TACSC Letter 2011
Dear Parents,
First, let me congratulate you on your child’s success in the SAS Student Council elections! We had a number of wonderful candidates for each position, all whom presented strong speeches. What a great accomplishment for our students!
I am extremely excited for our student council team next year, the energy and enthusiasm of all the winners is admirable. We have already begun working on projects and ideas for the 2011-2012 school year. I hope to develop the student council a great deal over the next year, increasing their involvement on campus to better serve the community.
In order to equip our student council with the skills and tools necessary to lead St. Anthony School, I would like to give them the opportunity to attend The Association for Catholic Student Council (TACSC) summer conference. This program is a five-day, four-night conference in which students meet to learn communication strategies, leadership skills, goal setting, and student council school planning, all in a faith-centered setting. Attended by Catholic school student council officers from all over California, this program helps young adults to develop as individuals and team members while also meeting and networking with other leaders just like them. Activities bring students confidence and growth over the five days.
The cost of this program is $525, an amount that St. Anthony’s is planning to partially supplement with the funds raised by the student council this year. Below you will find the funds available based on the number of students attending.
9 Students- $122
8 Students - $137
7 Students - $157
6 Students - $183
5 Students - $220
Please fill out and return the attached feedback sheet with your child by Wednesday, June 8. Further information (including dates and links the TACSC website) can be found on the student council page of www.mscarolinesliney.weebly.com under the “leadership” tab.
Thank you and God Bless,
Ms. Sliney
