TACSC- The Association for Catholic Student Councils
Dear Parents,
First, let me congratulate you on your child’s success in the SAS Student Council elections! We had a number of wonderful candidates for each position, all whom presented strong speeches. What a great accomplishment for our students!
I am extremely excited for our student council team next year, the energy and enthusiasm of all the winners is admirable. We have already begun working on projects and ideas for the 2010-2011 school year. I hope to develop the student council a great deal over the next year, increasing their involvement on campus to better serve the community.
In order to equip our student council with the skills and tools necessary to lead St. Anthony school, I would like to give them the opportunity to attend The Association for Catholic Student Council (TACSC) summer conference. This program is a five-day, four-night conference in which students meet to learn communication strategies, leadership skills, goal setting, and student council school planning, all in a faith-centered setting. Attended by Catholic school student council officers from all over California, this program helps young adults to develop as individuals and team members while also meeting and networking with other leaders just like them. Activities bring students confidence and growth over the five days.
The cost of this program is about $300, an amount that St. Anthony’s is planning to partially supplement through fundraisers for the students elected president, vice president, and secretary. All other student council members may attend the conference if they are able to fund the trip themselves. I am writing today to provide you with some information about this exciting opportunity. Attached you will find an information packet with the program syllabus, FAQs, and program philosophy. Any further questions can be answered through me ([email protected]), or at the program’s website www.tacsc.org. Further information can be found below.
Thank you and God Bless,
Ms. Sliney

The Association of Catholic Student Councils (TACSC) will be hosting their 29th Annual Summer Leadership Conference and I wanted to take a moment to give you some important information regarding this program.
TACSC has been teaching Jr. High School students leadership skills for over 30 years. Initially, their sole focus was student councils, however, they are opening the conferences to ALL incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in learning the skills needed to plan successful activities and lead peers and adults. This program has made a difference in many schools nationwide. It truly builds confidence and leadership skills that students use throughout their lives. Schools and communities see a direct benefit from the programs these students implement!
There will be two Summer Leadership Conferences this year in Southern California:
Loyola Marymount University – Los Angeles, CA
June 22-26
Please visit the TACSC website for more information and to register for the conference. We are a member school, so you will receive the lowest price for the conference. If you have any questions, Mr. Gene Detre, Executive Director, would be happy to talk with you. Please contact him via the website or at 925-954-7048.
